Christian-Muslim Youth Forum on Climate Change

The Christian-Muslim Youth Forum (CMYF) was created by MADE in Europe and the Christian-Muslim Forum to give young people a voice on global issues.

In October 2009, 30 young Christians and Muslims met at Lambeth Palace to form the CMYF on Climate Change where hosted by the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams, they developed the Christian-Muslim Youth Statement on Climate Change.

In the run up to the UN Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen, the Statement was supported by over 750 individuals from across the UK and worldwide and endorsed by a wide range of community and faith-based organisations including Three Faiths Forum, London Muslim Centre and Federation of Student Islamic Socieities (FOSIS).

On 1 December 2009, the CMYF handed over their Statement to the Under-Secretary of State for Department of Energy and Climate Change, David Kidney MP to pass onto the UK Negotiators for the UN Climate Change talks.

Representatives of the CMYF also travelled to Copenhagen with MADE in Europe to take part in mass campaigning activities with people from all over the world.
