Children's Rights in Gaza

Children make up more than 50% of Gaza’s population, so safeguarding children’s rights and meeting their needs are key elements of Gaza’s future development. In December 2010, 200 children from Gaza’s Al Zarqa community participated in a drawing project sponsored by Oxfam. These drawings provide a unique window into Palestinian children’s hopes and fears for the future. They illustrate that Gaza’s children share the same hope as children all over the world, for a clean and safe environment in which to grow up and play.

Oxfam, MADE in Europe and the Nida Trust are collaborating on a project for young people to engage with decision-makers to take action on behalf of Palestinian children.

We are looking for five 16-19 year olds to take part in a project to organise a public exhibition of the Al Zarqa children’s drawings at the London Muslim Centre/East London Mosque in March 2012.

You will be provided with training covering:

  • Learning about the issues: children’s rights in Gaza
  • Project management and event organisation
  • Effectively lobbying MPs and other relevant decision makers
  • Engaging peers and community members

Places for this project are now filled. Keep an eye on this page to find out how you can get involved over the next couple of months.
